Mr. Pitt -This great Statesman delivered a Speech in the British Parliament, on the 10th May, which lasted an hour and an half, " and is admitted by persons of all parties, to have exhibited one of the greatest efforts of the human mind ever witnessed within the walls of the Senate. It was heard throughout with the most anxious attention, and the applause it received in every part was only interrupted by the eager desire universally felt that not a syllable should be lost. At the close of his speech, the House gave vent to their feelings, and loud and repeated shouts of applause continued for some time after he sat down."
