DISTRESSING SHIPWRECK—A few weeks since we had occasion to record the loss of the British ship Doncaster, Capt. Pritchard, which sailed on the 5th of August from the Mauritius for London, on the night of the 14th of July. An English paper furnishes an account of the melancholy disaster, from which we learn that she was lost on the reef of Augalhas, about seventy miles S. E. of the Cape of Good Hope. Every soul on board perished; and by a letter from Klein River Vally, we learn that the bodies of 19 women and children, and 32 men and boys, had been washed on shore, and had been buried. The ship was lost about half a mile eastward to the spot fatal to the Jessie in 1829. It is not yet ascertained how many persons were on board; but it is certain that not one was preserved to tell the horrors of that night. Not a vestige of the Doncaster remains; and taking every thing into consideration, this it perhaps the most heart-rending occurrence of the kind on record.—[New Era.
