SENATE
Discussed $375,000,000 LaFollette-Costigan direct government relief bill.
Passed $12,000,000 appropriation to increase capital of federal farm loan banks.
Waived rules so President Hoover could be notified immediately of senate confirmation of appointments of three reconstruction finance corporation directors.
Senator Thomas, Repn., Okla., introduced resolution requesting foreign relations committee to keep senate advised concerning developments in Far East.
Senator Reed, Repn., Pa., introduced resolution directing tariff commission to investigate the effect depreciated foreign currencies in American trade.
Federal regulation of rates in interstate trucking and bus operation was urged before interstate commerce committee by Leo J. Flynn, examiner for the interstate commerce commission.
Senator Norris, Repn., Neb., introduced resolution authorizing a thorough investigation of the federal farm board.
Chairman Hale of the naval affairs committee called attention to trouble in the Far East and urged construction of the U. S. navy to London treaty limits.
