Full Text

Our readers may recollect that, in February last, we gave an account of a woman, named B-a, burning a considerable amount in bank notes, and other property, in order to prevent her husband retiring into the country, as he proposed to do. This monomania of destruction has seized her again, and has ended only with her life. During the night of the 30th ult. she commenced by burning in the chimney all her linen, clothes, and every other article in her chamber. She then broke six panes of glass, threw all the earthen ware and china out of the window, and after sewing up the bottom part of her dress, threw herself from the window of the second floor into the street, by which she broke a leg and an arm. On being taken up and placed in her bed, she expressed no regret for what she had done, refused the attendance of the ministers of religion, tore off with her teeth the bandages which were placed by the surgeon, and died in seven hours afterwards.—Paris Paper.
