Republican Caucus.

The Republicans of Worcester had a meeting at Brinley Hall, on Saturday evening, for the choice of delegates to the Republican State Convention in this city on the 24th. P. Emory Aldrich, Esq., President of the City Republican Union, presided, and C. B. Webb was Secretary. A committee of sixteen was nominated by the meeting at large to retire and report a list of ten delegates to the Convention, who subsequently reported the following list, which was unanimously agreed to:—Hon. Charles Allen, Henry Chapin, P. Emory Aldrich, Eli Thayer, Dwight Foster, Edwin Bynner, Thomas Drew, Alexander Thayer, A. P. Ware, and W. W. Rice. Mr. Rice declining, Hon. George F. Hoar was substituted in his place. The delegation were empowered to fill any vacancies which might occur therein. While the nominating committee were out, Mr. M. R. Hull of Indiana, being present, was called out, and favored the meeting with an interesting and lively speech, which was rather critical in its nature, but well received.

The following resolution, expressive of the general opinion of the Republicans of Worcester in regard to the matter of nominee for Governor, was offered by Hon. Henry Chapin, and passed unanimously:

Resolved, That the Republicans of Worcester, faithful to the platform of principles adopted at Philadelphia on the 17th day of June, 1856, hereby pledge themselves to support any honest, capable, and truthful candidate for the office of Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, who shall stand fairly, squarely, and unequivocally upon that platform,—and no other.
