MISS GREELEY PULLED 'EM OUT

Saved Three Men from the Cold Water of Lake Mascoma.

East Lebanon, N. H., Jan. 17.—While Frank E. Sargent, the postmaster, was skating on Lake Mascoma yesterday, the ice gave way and he sank under the water. When his head came above the surface he shouted for help and made desperate attempts to gain a foothold upon the ice, which was so thin that it broke continually.

John Greeley heard his cries, and rushing to the shore pushed a plank over to the break in the ice. This Sargent grabbed and by its aid kept afloat. Then Will Aldrich came to the scene, and while aiding Greeley in pulling Sargent ashore, all three broke through.

Then Miss Mary B. Greeley hastened to the shore of the lake, and with the help of her father succeeded in pulling all of the men out of the water.
