From the Juniata (Pa.) Gazette.
It is with pleasure we state that preparations are making to run a stage from Alexandria, in Huntingdon county, to Pittsburg. The line to commence some time the ensuing winter. The forward state of the turnpike over the Alleghany, which, it is said, will be completed by the first of November next, and the attention that has been paid to make this northern route good, will offer inducements to the traveller westward to come this way; and we yet hope to see the day when this road (from its being a shorter distance, and over a more level country,) will divide the travelling custom with the Carlisle and Chambersburg route. The managers and company of the Indiana and Huntingdon turnpike, certainly deserve the greatest credit for their unremitting exertions to have the turnpike completed, and it is said by persons who have seen it, that it is done in a better manner than any piece of turnpike of the same length in the state.
