ISAAC HILL.

An abortive attempt was on Wednesday made in the Senate to re-consider the vote on the nomination of Isaac Hill, but the former decision of the Senate was, it is understood, almost unanimously confirmed. Mr. Hill has now an opportunity to take the place of the Pontifex Maximus of New England democracy, if he does not get that of one of the Assistant Postmasters General, to which, it is rumored, he is likely to be translated. Another rumor is, that the laudable industry of Mr. Charles A. Wickliffe, in attempting to prove, (on the principle that two and two do not make four) that the Administration of Gen. Jackson is more economical than that of Mr. Adams, is to be rewarded with the succession to Isaac Hill's late office.
