The United States A Mediator.—We are rejoiced to learn, as we do by the Argentine News of March 7th, that our Minister by authority of his Government, had offered the mediation of the United States to terminate the war between the Argentine Republic and the neighboring Republic, or independence of Paraguay, and both parties readily accepted it. This is gratifying intelligence. These three American Governments are now exactly where we have long wished to see all our American Governments, mediating between each other, and settling their disputes among themselves.—Balt. Sun.
