BARCELONA TAKEN!

From PORTLAND, FEB.9.

Capt. George Barker, in the schooner Hannah, belonging to Marblehead, arrived here the 4th inst. in 30 days from Lisbon. Three days before Capt. Barker sailed, an express arrived at Lisbon with intelligence that the French had positively taken Barcelona, after a battle which lasted three days. The commanders of both armies were killed.

Capt. Barker was at Bilboa a short time before; and while there, about 6000 of the French attacked a city defended by 5000 Spaniards, within 25 miles of that place; took it, and pillaged every kind of public property, and then left it.

It was the general opinion at Bilboa, that that place will be taken by the French as soon as the spring opens.—At the very name of a Frenchman the Spaniards turn pale.

Capt. Barker heard nothing said respecting peace.
