There was a review, at which his Royal Highness was present, and afterwards Col. Ligonier and his friend (in those very terms) were invited to take a repast in a tent set apart for the English Nobility and Gentry, but the invitation was declined being accepted of.
His Royal Highness was now (though not publicly) known, and (as he chose to remain incog.) some game, rare and delicious fruits and wines, were sent by order of the French King, to his Royal Highness's hotel.
The next morning a Chevalier waited on Col. Ligonier from his Majesty, with an offer of two fine horses to carry his Royal Highness and him to a grand review at Compeigne; but as the circumstances of being publicly known was by no means agreeable, the compliment was handsomely refused, and his Royal Highness presently after set out on his return.
They were also at one of the theatres the evening of their arrival at Paris.
