To 'Shoot-It-Out' At
Joe Louis Gymnasium
By JOEL W. SMITH
Nearing the wind-up of their 1959-60 visitation hardwood campaign, the Morris Brown College Purple Wolverines step outside the SIAC tonight to take on the talent-laden Albany State College Rams, of the SEAC, at the Joe Louis Gymnasium.
Tip-off time will be 8 o'clock.
The Albany State Rams will be making their first appearance of the season in the city, but they are no strangers to Atlanta fans, who will recall their brilliant all-around play in the Georgia Invitational Tournament in 1955, 1956 and 1957. That is why a banner crowd is expected to be on hand to see them in action against the Purple Wolverines tonight.
One of the top teams in the SEAC, the Rams will also be out to get even with the Wolverines for 82-62 setback handed them at Albany back in December.
RAMS WIN FIVE OF LAST SIX GAMES
The Rams defeated Paine, Saturday night by a 75-64 margin for their fifth win in their last six games. Last night, they played host to the Mississippi Vocational Delta Devils as a sharpener for their big game here with Morris Brown.
Sparking the Rams attack will be William Douglas, Jerry Hancock, Lou Roberts, Charlie Fambro, Robert Carroll, Tunstall, Riley, Harris, James, Hall, Scott and Robinson.
WOLVERINES EXPECT LOTS OF TROUBLE
The Purple Wolverines are looking forward to lots of trouble from the Albany State sharp-shooters and will definitely turn on the steam early. They have improved considerably since visiting Albany in December, so have the Rams. That is why they must get down to real business, if they want to take the Rams in camp.
Key men for Morris Brown will include: Erwin Ross, James Scott, Clifton Pettiford, Oscar Wimberly, Robert Barnett, Jimmy Wright, Julius Myers, Randolph Fagg, Harold Menefee, Charles Bolden, Wilbert Smith, Lynn Ross, Frank Hill, Simon Hubbard and Cecil Fredd.
