New Orleans, March 4.—The steamboat Yazoo, which left Vicksburg last night for Bayou, Macon and Vicksburg, while turning a point during a high wind, capsized and sank near Red Church. Boat and cargo are a total loss. A number of lives were lost. Capt. Sullivan and some others who were saved came to the city on the Jessie K. Bell. The captain reports the following known to be lost: Lee Carper, second clerk; Christ Kerns, first mate; John Franz, Carpenter, Dan Lightner, steward, and the colored chambermaid; eight colored roustabouts, and passengers, Mrs. Lewis, Chicago, a seven months child of Pilot Cooley, and a colored woman, name unknown. The disaster occurred 25 miles above this city. The boat was heavily loaded with miscellaneous freight.
