New Subsidy Plans Go to Congress

WASHINGTON, Aug. 23.-(UP)- War Food Administration officials said today they expect to have plans for food subsidies ready for congress when it returns to Washington next month.

WFA Administrator Marvin Jones said last night that the government would be prepared to purchase farm surpluses and to take losses where necessary.

He said in a radio address that price supports might take several forms.

Details of the program, however, must await congressional authorization of funds.

WFA officials said no surprises in food or farm financing are being planned. Two methods of administering subsidies now in use and one additional may be proposed to congress.
