State Distribution of Seeds.

Mr. Editor:—Please state in your paper, for the information of those wanting Seeds from this office, that the quantity of seeds for distribution, the coming spring, will be necessarily limited. In consequence of the failure of most of those who have received seeds, &c., from this office to make full and fair trials in their cultivation, to report upon them, and to retain a portion subject to the order of this office, some other and more efficient plan must be adopted. I have determined, therefore, at least this year, to supply first, Agricultural Clubs which have an efficient organization, when I am informed of the names of the Secretaries and their post office address. Second, County Agricultural Societies when notified by the Secretaries thereof, that they want them. Third, to reliable individuals who may write to this office for them, in the order their applications are received. Hon. James Harlan, of the United States Senate, has generously given to this office all his proportion of seeds coming from the Patent Office, believing that through this medium they may fall into more discriminative and reliable hands. As there appears to be a great want of pure Sugar Cane Seeds, I will have a fair quantity of several kinds, obtained at home and abroad. Also, Tomato seed, two new varieties of Cabbage, Hubbard Squash, &c., &c., all very superior, sufficient, perhaps, to supply all demands, to a limited extent, at least enough to raise seed for the next year's use.

Very respectfully yours,

WM. DUANE WILSON.
