Stephenson Speaks

Marathon Garden Club last Friday heard guest speaker George Stephenson whose interesting and informative address dealt with native trees of the Keys area. With exhibits on hand, Stephenson pointed out the poison wood tree, and told how to recognize it; he also spoke of the various types of mangrove, the white, black and red.

There was no business session held at Friday's meeting at the Oasis Restaurant, the entire period being given over to lunching and hearing the guest speaker.

Table decorations were of charming arrangements of hibiscus and other native flowers.

Other guests of the club for the afternoon included Mrs. Robert Hutchinson and Mrs. Fred Allen.

The next regular luncheon meeting of Marathon Garden Club will take place Friday afternoon, October 31, again at the Oasis Restaurant.
