The Jeffersonian publishes an article referring to the results of the election in the States in 1840 and then in 1842, and states that in many of them the Democracy has increased so that they have succeeded by considerable majorities, and in some others their increase is so great as to insure future triumph. We admit that owing to the death of Gen. Harrison and the defection of Mr. Tyler the Whigs had become so disheartened that in a moment of despondency they have suffered their enemies to get the advantage—having no leader—but People of North Carolina the tables are turned, and we have a leader now of our own selection—HARRY OF THE WEST—who has stood by us in gloomier times than the present, and with him in our front we shall demolish all our enemies.

Owing to the death of Gen.
