On Wednesday last, Mr. Luther Hamilton, was ordained Pastor of the First Congregational Church, in Taunton. Sermon by the Rev. Mr. Willard of Deerfield; Introductory Prayer by Rev. Mr. Thompson, of Barre; Ordaining Prayer by Rev. Dr. Read, of Bridgewater; Charge by Rev. Simeon Doggett, of Mendon; Fellowship of the Churches by Rev. Mr. Clark, of Norton; Concluding Prayer by Rev. Mr. Smith, of Rowe. The devotional and joyful feelings of a numerous assembly were aided by the superior performance of sacred musick, which did honour to the taste and abilities of the choir.
The Ecclesiastical Council was composed of eleven Bishops, together with the delegates from their several Churches, and the harmonious result affords a pleasing presage that the divine blessing will attend the connexion thus formed between this branch of the Church of Christ and their Pastor.
