Detroit, Dec. 3.

The troops recently employed on the military road, under command of lieutenants Mellon and Davis, leading from this place to the state of Ohio, returned to this post on Saturday last in good health and spirits. The road is now cut through, and bridges made over runs and marshes from this place to the Miami Rapids, a distance of 75 miles. The notorious Black Swamp will be next attacked.

Those who have seen the bridges which have been made by the troops, speak highly of their strength & neatness; and all concur in rendering much praise to the industry and discipline of the troops while employed under the command of Lieutenants Mellen and Davis, &c.
