At Jonesport, [a facility] has [been erected] for Messrs. Rumsey of Portland. The building and materials have required an outlay of about $1200. Twelve hands—six males and six females—are employed in preparing the lobsters for the market. Individuals supply the lobsters at $1.50 per hundred. About thirty persons are engaged in taking lobsters for the above purpose, having in use what in Yankee phraseology is denominated a 'lobster pot,' by which the 'red coats' are summarily caught, and taken into the boats.
