With only four more days in which to register for the primary election, according to the figures at the office of County Recorder May B. Knor, less than 11,000 voters of all parties are registered in Cochise county.
According to the figures last night County Recorder's office, a total of 10,147 were registered up to that date. Today a number were received but the total will not reach 11,000 as the attendance is so light with only four more days to go.
At this rate, unless floods of names are sent in at the last moment Cochise county's registration will fall 2000 short of 13,000, when registration showed in the neighborhood of 13,000 all parties.
Last week's totals were 507 democrats, 157 republicans, and three miscellaneous. Totals Saturday were 5,686 democrats, 506 republicans and 366 miscellaneous.
In this connection Chief Deputy Hutchison wished it made plain to all voters in the county that the books will positively close at 6 o'clock on the evening of Friday the 27th and all voters who wish to vote at the primaries must have their blanks in the office by that time if they cannot enter the polls to cast their ballot for their favorite candidate.
While the population in the county is conceded to be less than in 1913 it is believed that many voters are holding off until the last day or two to register. In this connection many will not be able to get through the recorder's office in time and may be left off the precinct register. It is announced, should a delay in transmitting through the mails occur and the blanks go amiss.
Stress is being laid on the fact that registrations should be sent at once by all registration officers and they are making a special effort to enroll all voters possible on the blanks before the closing date.
