They Are Busy Soliciting Funds for Saving the Alamo.

Waco, Texas, Oct. 9.—The ladies appointed in this county to solicit funds and take part in the patriotic demonstration at the San Antonio fair continue active. They have had placards printed and these will be left in the stores, while the public schools, clubs, etc., will be asked to contribute. The placards read as follows: "Remember the Alamo. The Daughters of the Republic undertake the patriotic duty of securing by popular contributions a sufficient fund to save to our common country the cradle of Texas liberty, the Alamo. This landmark is in danger of passing into alien hands. We ask you to contribute only 5 cents. Signed, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, by committee." Three ladies have been appointed as follows: Mrs. R. H. Harrison, Mrs. W. L. Radney and Mrs. F. B. Robinson, with one yet to be named.
