Friday, June 23d, this lodge of worthy craftsmen and their friends employed the steamer Long Branch and a commodious barge, to convey them to Iona Island, on the Hudson, distant forty miles from the city, to enjoy not only a fascinating sail upon the most beautiful of rivers, but a pleasurable treat upon the grassy plots of a lovely island beneath the towering crags of Mount Dunderberg, the king of the Highlands. The day was clear and beautiful, the company pleasant and jovial, the music and refreshments good, hence the excursionists were well pleased pecuniarily and otherwise, which fact is of sufficient importance to make all happy, especially the brethren of the lodge and the committee who projected and completed the excursion. Among the elite of the gathering we noticed W. Bro. John Allen, of St. Cecile, Jun. War. Perpignan, of said lodge, Bro. Francis Snyder, Peter Relyea, Jr., W. C. Grover, Ed. Carson, E. L. Wright of Suring Teld, Mass., Brothers Robinson, Lockwood and Guest, of Acacia.
