No Action in Butler Case
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 29-In view of the continued illness of General Smedley D. Butler, director of public safety, the situation with regard to his status as head of the Philadelphia police department remains the same and nothing will be done until he returns to his desk, Mayor Kendrick said today.
With this announcement the mayor set at rest a report that he intended to remove General Butler in advance of tonight's mass meeting in protest against the director's dismissal,
