Full Text

The following Circumstance has lately happened at Windsor. Previous to the Installation, a Company of Players came. One Evening Lord North's Son, who is at Eton School, went to see them, and in the mean Time his Father came through the Town, and could not see him, though he sent to many Places for him. On his Lordship's Return home he wrote to Doctor Foster about it, who immediately wrote to the Mayor, desiring to have the Players sent out of Town, which the Mayor refused; and the Request being repeated, and the Mayor still refusing, the Doctor caused an Information to be laid against the poor Players as Vagabonds, in Order to make them pay the Penalty. This Information also the Mayor refused to take; however, the Doctor sent to Sir John Fielding for Redress, and the Players hearing it, retreated with Precipitation. A Bill is now filed in the Court of King's Bench against the Mayor, to Show Cause why an Information should not be granted against the Players.
