NEW CHURCH TO BE DEDICATED AT PUBLIC SERVICE WEDNESDAY

The Rt. Rev. Hamilton Kellogg, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota, will officiate at the dedication of St. Thomas Episcopal church, 4400 Fourth Ave. So., Wednesday evening, January 18, at 8:00 o'clock.

The dedication sermon will be delivered by Bishop Philip McNairy.

Invitations have been issued to all Episcopal churches in the diocese of the Twin Cities, to the Ministerial Alliance, heads of city and state, civic organizations, and heads of the department of education. The general public is also cordially invited to attend.

Out-of-town invitations include Dr. Pollie Caution of New York, executive secretary of the division of racial minorities of the Home Department of the National Council of the Episcopal church.

The Rev. Louis W. Johnson is rector of the new parish.

Constructed of Grand Canyon face brick the newly completed church is contemporary in design with laminated arches and deckings, and has a seating capacity of 189 in the nave.

The narthex will accommodate an additional 20 persons. The extremely simple interior has a single impressive focal point, the huge oak cross, extending from the top of the church to within two feet of the triangular altar. Pulpit design also carries out the triangular construction to signify the Trinity.

Cathedral glass inserted at each side of the altar reflects prisms of vari-colored light on the cross.

Immediately following the dedication service a reception will be held in the undercroft. Reception chairman is Mrs. Tela B. Burt, with Mrs. Eugene Shepherd as co-chairman.
