The Reading Times makes the announcement of the elevation of a negro to the office of Justice of the Peace as follows.

Delaware county has the credit of electing the first colored man in this State to the position of Justice of the Peace. The 'Squire's name is Thomas Hazzard, and the citizens of Thornbury, in the county named, elevated him to the rank of Justice.

How long will it be before the Radicals of this county will elevate a negro to office? This question is being earnestly discussed by our 'darkies,' many of whom assert that they have been hardly dealt with by the Radicals, and not benefitted at all by the mere right to vote white Radicals into fat offices.
