R. H. Clark informs the editor that he, William Leathers, and Louis Gibson were honorably discharged from a Police Court charge of stealing $550 from drunk Charles H. Ronnebaum of St. Bernard. To the Editor of the STAR:
I wish to state that myself, William
Leathers and Louis Gibson were exam-
ined in the Police Court this morning on
the charge of stealing $550 from
Charles H. Ronnebaum, of St. Ber-
nard, while he was drunk, and
that we were honorably discharged.
Ronnebaum made an affidavit that the
charge was groundless, and that the
warrant was sworn out for our ar-
rest while he (Ronnebaum) was beastly
drunk. He was incited to do this by Dan
Flanagan, Jake Kelly (who is now in
possession of my saloon), and Charley
Davis. It was done to break me up in
my business, and unfortunately they
were successful.
