Money Last Week

COLUMBUS—School districts throughout Ohio received a record $34,419,195.35 in school foundation money this week according to State Auditor James A. Rhodes. It exceeded by nearly $3 million the quarter distribution made last November.

Total distribution of this school money however failed to equal the previous record of $34 million set in November. The allocation to teachers' retirement system accounted for practically all of the difference. Total distribution this quarter was $39,877,854.75. This represented a marked increase over the August payments which amounted to $34 million.

Here's the way the school funds were divided:

$34,419,195.35 to school districts;

$1,620,592.90 to county boards of education; $2,475,618.50 to retirement system and $1,362,448 to school employees retirement system.

The distribution to school districts was broken down as follows:

$16,318,900.79 to local school districts under the county system; $15,288,752.17 to city school districts, and $2,811,542.39 to exempted village school districts.
