General Superintendent William Massie of Rawlins, a relative of Mrs. J. A. Massie of the Connor hotel of this city, was here this morning, buying some supplies from the National Supply company, and stated that a concerted effort would be made on Wednesday to stop the fire consuming the immense flow of gas from the Kasoming well on the Mahoney dome, near Rawlins.
A battery of boilers has been stationed near the well, and these will be steamed up, the steam being allowed to play on the fire, in the hope of putting it out. Mr. Ingram of the National stated that he did not believe the company would resort to dynamite, as that would be liable to ruin the well. As soon as the fire has been quenched it is the intention of the company to cap the well until pipes could be laid to conserve the gas for commercial purposes.
