Mrs. H. C. Little of Denver, Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the North Carolina Federation of Home Demonstration Clubs, recently met with the Agriculture Committee of the North Carolina Legislature in Raleigh N. C.
The meeting was held in the board room in the Agriculture Building with Mr. A. C. Edwards Chairman of the Committee presiding. The purpose of the meeting was to hold a preliminary hearing of the Cornmeal Enrichment Bill. Mrs. Grace T. Rodenbough, only woman representative in the legislature, presented the bill. Among the Home Demonstration club officials who spoke in behalf of the bill were Mrs. E. P. Gibson, President of the N. C. Federation of H. D. Clubs and Mrs. H. C. Little, Chairman of the State Legislative Committee. Action on the bill was delayed until a later date.
At the meeting of the Executive Board of the N. C. Federation of H. D. Clubs held in Raleigh, Mrs. H. C. Little, Chairman of the Jane McKimmon loan fund committee made her annual report. Twenty-three girls now receiving loans thru this fund will continue to receive aid; ten additional girls will be granted loans this year. Of this number two girls are from Alexander County, and one each from Burke and Stanley County.
The Jane McKimmon loan fund was established in 1927 in honor of Mrs. McKimmon who was the first State Home Demonstration Agent.
Loans are made to rural girls of North Carolina desiring a college education.
