Last Friday, one George Mitchell was apprehended in this Town for stealing; and on Examination before a Magistrate it plainly appeared that he had sold, to a Woman in Danvers, a few Hours before he was taken up, about 7 Yards of Chintz, which was known to have been stolen out of a Shop in this Town the Day before. He was committed to Goal, and re-examined on Saturday, when he was remanded back to Prison, and is to be tried at the Court of Sessions to be held next Month at Newbury-Port. It is much suspected that he has some Female Accomplices ; and we are not without Hopes that they will soon be detected. He told the Person who bought the Chintz of him, that he had a Variety of Articles for Sale. which it is thought he has secreted in some Field towards Danvers. A Coat and Jacket was stolen out of a House at the upper Part of the Town the same Day this Fellow came into it, which was on Wednesday in Company with one other Man and two Women.
