Full Text

The foreign news, though late, comes to us in such a garbled form that very little can be learnt from it. The press in France is the property of the Emperor and nothing is suffered to appear in print that is not to his advantage; the news of the battle of Vittoria has not
been published in France to this day: we cannot therefore expect to hear of any battles in the French papers, but those in which the Emperor is victorious. It is very plain however, that the French have lately gained no advantages over the allies, for if they had, the papers would not have been silent; and it is more than probable they have met with some disasters. From the 30th of September to the 25th of October: the date of the last Paris accounts, we have not a word in print from the armies; verbal accounts, however, say that Bonaparte has been driven from Dresden, which we are inclined to think may have been the case. News from the armies must have reached Paris down to the 10th or 14th of October, and if it had not been of a disastrous nature, it certainly would have been published. From this circumstance we are led to infer that all is not well with the Emperor:--the next arrival from England will probably clear up all doubts.--N. Y. E. Post.
