NEW-YORK, Jan. 2.

The company at the PRESIDENT's yesterday was unusually crowded and respectable. The members of the Senate and House of Representatives--the principal Officers of the Government of the United States--the Governor and Officers of the State of New-York--the Mayor and many foreigners and citizens of distinction paid him their respects on the commencement of a New-Year. The weather was remarkably fine; and it must have afforded real pleasure to the contemplative mind, to have beheld the pleasing felicitations of all ranks of citizens, and the general joy that pervaded every breast.
