Full Text

The Disorders to which the late Stadtholder was from Time to Time subject, during the last 3 Years of his Life, arose chiefly from rheumatique Humours that particularly affected his Lungs and Intestines. This was the true Cause of his making a Tour to Aix-la-Chapelle, where he used the Waters and the Baths with Success, so that he was in perfect Health there; and at his Arrival at Maestricht, while he continued in that Fortress he spent several Hours every Day upon the Parade to see the Troops exercise, and several more in examining the Works; but upon his Return to the Hague, he began to complain again of a Pain in the Back of his Head, the Nape of his Neck, and in his Throat. This Indisposition obliged him to keep his Bed longer in the Morning than he was used to do, but his Pains being alleviated by gentle Sweats, he commonly went abroad in the Afternoon. This lasted about a Week; his Highness fell then into his last Sickness, accompanied with nearly the same Symptoms he had in his long Illness three Years before.
