Full Text
Many of our people run away during the summer in search of amusement and pleasure, subjecting themselves to all the discomforts, disagreeabilities and inconveniences of hundreds of miles of weary travel, vapor-bathed in steamboats, stifled with dust in stages, or pillowed on railroad cars when right at home, near to them, there is more real enjoyment in an excursion of a few days' duration than they will find in their whole summer's sojourn abroad. Our brother of the Hernando "Advance," it will be seen, has been proving, in part, this position, by a very pleasant and successful expedition to Horn Lake. He will never go there again, he says, unless under the influence of a horn.
