The master of a Felucca, just arrived from Messina, brings advice, that the inhabitants of divers places in the neighbourhood of that city have all quitted their habitations, for fear of being destroyed by the eruptions of Mount Etna, which have totally ruined several villages; and that the inhabitants of Messina, terrified by the subterraneous noises, had not courage enough to stay in town; for when the Felucca came away, they were still lying in the fields under tents and huts erected in haste.
