M. Cron in Barbary. Aug. 16.
The Moor formerly mentioned, who was so much cried up for his Sanctity and behavior in maintaining City and its Forts, went to Tarudant, the Capital of the Kingdom of Sus, where he was unanimously proclaimed King by all the Inhabitants of the Country, the Highlanders who had been at Variance, being reconciled; and they have a very great Esteem for their new King, in Hopes that he will soon extend his Conquests, and march towards Mequinez, the Inhabitants of which City are terribly divided.
Some Merchants of this City went to Tarudant, to congratulate the new King on his Accession to the Throne, and also carried him very rich Presents. He gave them a very gracious Audience, and tho' he excused himself from taking their Presents, he assured them of his Protection, and has actually taken off the Prohibition they lay under of transporting Corn, &c. to Foreign Parts, so that there is great Hopes this Prince's Government will be mild.
