TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

Christmas Eve after the show, Mrs. La Valley and small daughter of Wasilla were crossing the street in front of the recreation hall, to board the bus for the home trip, when a car driven by Clyde King Jr. of Palmer struck them and caused severe bruises and a shock that caused some worry on the part of friends and relatives. However, a close examination was made by Dr. Hoehn and no serious injuries were found. The car was not approaching at a fast speed, and a skim of ice covered the ground where the accident occurred. Mrs. La Valley was pushed a short distance by the bumper and the front wheel, but the little girl had the unusual experience of having a car pass completely over her body. It is indeed lucky that this accident was no more serious than it was and two suggestions were made by people who saw the accident that might help to prevent this from happening again.

One suggestion was that a light cover of cinders on the ice formation would enable drivers of cars to stop easier, and the other was that a street light would enable people to see where they were going, and cars coming.
