The mail from Salem, of Tuesday evening, we learn, is missing, and that it contained a letter addressed to the Cashier of the Branch Bank of the United States here, covering checks on various banks, to the amount of 7,800 dollars. One of these, for 150 dollars, was offered in payment at a shop in Cornhill, on Wednesday, by a person calling himself Moses Hidden, and stopped; and H. made off. The description of this fellow, we learn, agrees with the person of one Head, who, on that evening, came with the mail stage from Salem, as an assistant driver. The other letter, sent from Salem by Wednesday's mail, and advertised as missing, we learn, has since come to hand, having been delayed by some circumstances.
