William Simons, who says he came here from Chicago, fell into the river at the foot of Orleans-st., early Wednesday morning, and was rescued by August Brege, night watchman for the Detroit Shipbuilding Co., when almost unconscious, and thoroughly numbed by the cold.

Brege lowered a ladder to the man who grasped it, and was hauled ashore, after repeated efforts. Then he sank into a stupor.

Revived in St. Mary's hospital, he gave his name, said he had just arrived from Chicago, and refused to tell how he happened to fall into the river.
