On Wednesday the 4th instant, arrived at New-York, His Most Christian Majesty's packet Le Courier de New York, commanded by Capt. Jubert, from France, after a short passage. In her came passenger the Marquis de la Fayette. This distinguished character after a series of eminent services in the army of the United States, has, we are told, been assiduously employed for some time past, in advancing the interest of these American States, in Europe, where, from his influence and exertions, our country have derived no small advantage. His great desire of seeing this country in the peaceable possession of the fruits of a contest, in which he has acted so magnanimous and considerable a part, has induced him to revisit it at this period. The hearts of a free people cannot fail to give a cordial welcome to the Marquis, when he reflects the repeated proofs he has given of his warm attachment to the true interest of America.
