MOBILE, Jan. 22, 1838.--Robbery and Murder.--We learn that the driver of the U. S. Mail was murdered on Friday night last within a mile and a half of Stockton, and the mail bags ripped open and their contents rifled.--The bags were found next morning in the neighborhood. The stage contained the New Orleans mails of Wednesday and Thursday.--And the mail of Friday from this city. The driver had two balls shot through his head.--Suspicion rests upon two men who had been lurking about Stockton for some days previously.--Adv.

The Postmaster General, in an advertisement in the Globe of Saturday night, offers "a reward of $600 to any person or persons who may promote the arrest and conviction of the robbers and murderers, or any of them."
