Full Text

The Los Angeles and San Pedro Street Railroad commenced regular trips with its car to-day. The wheels of the car sent down from San Francisco were so narrow on the face and flange that the car would not stay on the track where there was the slightest curve. These wheels were at once taken off and a set of wheels obtained of the L. A. & S. P. R. R. Co. and fitted to the car. With these wheels a curve of 60 feet radius is turned with ease and without guard rails. The fare is put down to 3 cents per ticket when purchased in one dollar packages, and five cents single fare. If the public patronize the road enough, the fare will be kept at the above rates. A car will always be ready for passengers on the arrival of the cars from Santa Monica. The road is now laid to Eternity street and will be continued up to the depot of the Southern Pacific Railroad when that company move to the upper depot. The road will be used to transport passengers and freight from each depot. Some 60 tons of freight for the Gas Company have already been delivered at the hay scales on Los Angeles street for 15 cents per ton. This road promises to be of the greatest use and economy to the public.
