Extract of a letter to the editor of the Boston Patriot, dated Detroit, July 6, 1816.

The 5th regiment will soon commence cutting a military road from Detroit to Fort Meigs, on the Miami river. When the British posts at Green Bay and Chicago, on Lake Michigan, are fully opened, it will be of immense advantage to this country. The 3d regiment have sailed to establish posts at those places. At the former place its troops have not been stationed at the latter place since the massacre of the garrison by the Indians, in 1812.
