CREEL
GOES
EAST
TO
WED

Denver, Nov. 26.—Police Commissioner George Creel has gone east to
marry Blanche Bates, the actress.
The wedding is to take place at the
country home of Miss Bates, 30 miles
from New York city, on Thanksgiving
day. Juvenile Judge Ben Lindsey
will be best man.

Quite a stir occurred at the city
hall
on the eve of Commissioner
Creel's departure for New York when
it became noised about that he had
not tendered his resignation in accordance with his pre-election promise that he would do so when he had
been in office six months and had
succeeded in inaugurating a more
humane system of policing the city.
Mr. Creel evidently has changed
his mind, and wants to retain his official title a little longer; and unless
the mayor creates a vacancy, Mr.
Creel will continue to be police commissioner. The fact that he failed
to tender his resignation to Mayor
Arnold before he left for the east
gave several of the job hunters about
the city hall a jolting up of no small
proportions.

Seriously, Mr. Creel has made a
good record during the six months
of service; and it is only those who
always find fault who want him to
resign.
The mayor seems to be perfectly satisfied with the excellent innovations that have been introduced
in the conduct of the police affairs
of Denver, and it is said that he will
not insist upon Mr. Creel resigning.
That Commissioner Creel has
improved the policing system in Denver no one can deny; that he can still
bring about additional good results
is also admitted. Therefore, the hope
is entertained that he will continue
to exercise the functions of the important office he holds until reform
along police lines is complete.
