Gets Superintendency of the New Central Division of C., R. I. & P.
Des Moines, Dec. 17.--Announcements were received in Des Moines yesterday concerning the re-organization of the Rock Island system. Mr. I. Miller, the new general manager of the system, took charge December 15, and it is said the re-organization is his plan. The re-organization means a promotion for Mr. H. J. Slifer. superintendent of the Iowa division in 1900, by increasing his territory. Hereafter the system will be divided into three grand divisions-the central northern and southwestern. Hiram J. Slifer is general superintendent of the central district, which consists of the Chicago terminals, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado divisions. H. S. Cable is general superintendent of the northern district, which comprises the Cedar Rapids, Dakota and Des Moines Valley divisions. J. M. Guber, with headquarters at Topeka, Kan., will be general superintendent of the southwest district, Which consists of Missouri, Kansas, El Paso and Oklahoma divisions.
