Appointed Consul
Of Honduras
The appointment of Dan P. Danilov, a Seattle Attorney, as Consul Ad-Honorem for the Republic of Honduras in Seattle, Washington, was announced by Celeo Davila, Ambassador of Honduras in Washington, D. C.
Danilov was appointed to the diplomatic post by Dr. Ramon Villeda Morales, President of the Republic of Honduras. An Exequatur recognizing Dan P. Danilov as the Honorary Consul of Honduras in Seattle has also been signed by President John F. Kennedy.
In accepting the appointment, Danilov said, "It is an honor for me to accept this high post. I deem it a great privilege to have the opportunity of representing one of our neighbors in this hemisphere."
"We in America must get to know each other better in these times," Danilov said. "I shall do everything that I can to promote the friendly and cultural relations of Honduras in the Pacific Northwest," Danilov announced.
A naturalized citizen, Danilov has seen life in other parts of the world before coming to America. He was born in Vladivostock, Russia, and lived for 20 years in China as a "stateless refugee."
During World War II, Danilov and his brother helped the Allies in China by operating a secret radio news service and smuggling food into prisoner of war camps.
Danilov is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served with the U. S. 8th Army Headquarters in Seoul in the intelligence division.
Since his discharge from the Army, Danilov has been active in veterans' affairs. He is now Senior Vice-Commander of Seattle Post No. 1, The American Legion.
The Daughters of the American Revolution presented Danilov the 1961 "Americanism Medal" for being an "outstanding naturalized citizen."
A graduate of the University of Washington, Danilov holds degrees in Bachelor of Laws and Letters and Bachelor of Arts. He is a member of the Seattle - King County Bar Association, Washington State Bar Association and American Bar Association.
Danilov was Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for King County in 1958-1960.
At the last general election, he was candidate for Congress in the 7th District. Until recently Danilov was Municipal Judge of Des Moines, Washington.
The office of the Honduras Consulate in Seattle has been established at 719 Second Avenue Building, Suite 222.
