Full Text

A private letter from Delegate Pettigrew contains the following paragraph: 'Ordway has nothing to do but travel about here slandering the people of Dakota, sending false telegrams, etc., etc. If he was not here there would be no quarrel. I have not caused any telegrams to be sent in relation to any difference, but have worked night and day to secure the passage of the bill to make Dakota a state. I not only have democratic opposition to meet, but Ordway's slanders to overcome.'

The foregoing was not written for publication, but we take the liberty of using it as a matter of justice to Mr. Pettigrew. We have published most of the Ordway specials and something on the other side of the case is due. The returned delegates from Washington confirm Mr. Pettigrew's statement that he is industriously devoting himself to the admission measure.
