Full Text
Judge G. G. Berry, proprietor of Tombstone Record, having refused to support the ticket nominated by the late Democratic convention, the leaders and candidates of the party were compelled to either start another paper or buy or lease the Record. They chose the latter alternative, and to-day the paper passed into the hands of the Democratic central committee under a two months' lease. The chairman of the committee, Harry Woods, was placed in possession, and it is understood he will do the heavy political writing, Dick Rule the local and society, while Harry Quigley, secretary of the central committee, will manage the finances. Ridgely Tilden, city editor and W. L. DeGraw, business manager were superseded, and M. A. Jackson took charge of the forms, vice Date Cooper, reduced to the ranks. Chauncey Cooper was "fired," and Patrick H. Landi, Democratic candidate for justice of the peace, takes charge of the presses. As there are three candidates for the office in the concern, it is believed they will work it for all it is worth.—Epitaph.
